The Varsity Lady Tigers have lost one of their key players and captain Shelby Blodgett due to a basketball training opportunity. The girls won’t let this loss affect them, and they’re still making progress and working hard. This week there are no scheduled games so it gives the girls some down time time to really focus and practice for next week's games. As for the Junior Varsity, they’ve had many victories this season so far, especially with the help of team captains Mary Hagen and Andrea Rodas. These girls are working hard this week towards not only their weaknesses, but also their strengths. JV coach Brooke Martin has been helping the girls push themselves to see their true potential. These girls also work on their teamwork and support for one another during practice and during the games. They’re all looking forward to next weeks games to show the Tiger fans what they’re capable of. Tiger Football Week 3 Preview by Jack Boothe
After the Tiger win over Highline, 59-36, they are prepared to square off against another Washington opponent. Winlock is a size 2B which is about equivalent to Oregon 3A. The Tigers ground game was present last week with Sam Shockley leading the charge with nearly 150 yards rushing. The Tigers did face some adversity at the beginning of the game but seemed to handle it well. The second quarter is where the Tigers asserted their dominance over Highline. Looking for a repeat of week two Clatskanie will travel to Winlock’s turf to try and improve their record to 2-1. The game should be a doozie as Winlock will enter the game undefeated at 2-0 after last week’s win over Ft. Vancouver. The game will start at 7 o’clock at Winlock High School.
