Now, before everyone gets on me saying “Uhhh dude, "Baby Driver" has been out since June.” I know. My grandma and I almost saw it then, but then decided on seeing the new Spiderman Movie… I mean can you blame me.. I mean it’s Spidey-man. Anyways we’re getting carried away. Over Thanksgiving break I got the chance to finally watch it.
Now that that’s out of the way. Let’s start the Movie Reveiw.
For anyone who doesn’t know what "Baby Driver" is about, It’s about a boy who was in a car accident with his parents when he was young. Both parents died and the accident left a ‘ring’ in his ear. Fast forward however many more years later, Baby is a heist driver, a excellent one I might add, with a little quirk. He listens to music 24/7 to help with timing, and more simply drown out the ringing from the accident. Unfortunately he can’t get out of a bad situation which leads to issues. That’s all I’m going to tell you about the plot.
Without further ado, and hopefully without too many spoilers, it’s time for the breakdown.
Don’t get me wrong the movie looked fantastic, Every scene was planned out perfectly, really sucked you in. Again the sound design, amazing. My grandma and I were singing along to every song that was played. The action scenes were pretty good, somewhat unrealistic but still realistic enough that it wasn’t ridiculous. As for the actors and writing of the movies; wasn’t that impressed. The main issue was the writing. Baby and Debra’s relationship went from 0 to 100 real quick. They knew each other for less than a week and they're already ready to die for each other. I mean I know it happens but come on! As for the rest of the story it was okay… but there were SO many plot holes. It seemed like it was a 5th graders writing assignment. Don’t get me wrong, the movie was great, but for a person like me who loves the story aspect of movies.. It kind of fell flat to me.
So if there’s anything to get out of this. It’s that the movie is "Okay", but maybe the hype wasn’t what it made the movie to be like. But take my criticism lightly, My view isn’t the same view as yours. You might think it’s the best movie ever, but you won’t know unless you watch it.
