It's that time of year again, basketball team practices and games, friends in the gym and outside the gym, and new friends to make as a family. It's the time again to get up and play and show your inner "grr" to everyone. It's the smell of the gym in the morning for tournaments or the smell of the popcorn that has friends running in to watch the games. The thrill of watching girls/ boys fight over the ball and see who comes out on the top.
But here's the thing, it's not about winning or losing (although everyone makes it that) it's about having fun and getting to try something new or something old. It's about getting out and having fun, not sitting on your butt all day playing games or talking on the phone. Some see it as a stupid sport, others see it as a hobby but yet some see it as a way to make a new family, new friends and the joy of playing.
Basketball is about pushing yourself and going above and beyond what everyone thinks about you or how you play. It's about how you feel about the way you play and the way you have fun. Yes, you do have to listen to your coach and do what they say, yet you can still have fun. How do you have fun but yet still do what your coach said? Well when they tell you to play a 100 percent do that and have fun. Make it fun by setting a goal for yourself - ten rebounds or ten steals. Make it fun so you push yourself and continue to get better. Do something that will make you move and go hard so you can get to your goal. It's yours and only yours.
Bring on basketball season!
